TIPS ON SUMMER FUN THAT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE EXPENSIVE

We are heading into Summer, the sun is shining the temperatures are rising, let the summer fun and activities begin, it’s all there for the taking. There are endless things to do in the summer but it doesn’t have to cost a ton of money.

Here are a few budget-friendly things you can do this summer.

  • Plant a garden with the kids
  • Go to a free music event in the park
  • Look on the internet for free activities around your area
  • Go to the farmers market
  • Do some star gazing while lying on a blanket in your backyard, children love this stuff make it a family experience, have your children pick out a star and tell them that is their star, have them name it.
  • Have the kids set up a kool-aid stand, have them help bake some cookies, they can earn extra spending money and have fun doing so.
  • Pick wildflowers not only will you have fun gathering them but you can put them on your tabletop for the whole family to enjoy as a beautiful center peice for dinner.
  • Plan a BBQ invite all the neighbors let them know it’s a potluck event, what a great way to have fun and meet your neighbors at the same time.
  • Go camping
  • Grab the camera and go to some great places and take pictures of wildlife
  • Teach the kids how to swim
  • Have that yard sale not only can you get rid of the clutter you can make a few dollars while you’re at it.
  • Go to the park and feed the ducks
  • Go to the free movies at the park night
  • Have a scavenger hunt
  • Go to the beach and collect seashells
  • Watch the sunset
  • Make wishes in a fountain, kids love this stuff
  • Go for a nature walk with a list of things to find, make a game out of it and see who can find the most stuff on the list,this is fun for the whole family and its free.
  • Tour a free museum
  • Water balloon fights are fun especially if its hot outside
  • Call your local fire department and ask if you can take the children sometime and have a quick tour, this is a great way to teach the children fire safety and have fun at the same time.
  • Visit a local farm
  • Go to the petting zoo
  • If the heat is getting to you walk around the mall, do some window shopping
  • Get a few packages of sidewalk chalk, art is always fun, have the children draw something and let them know they are doing this for a contests and you’ll be handing out prizes in the end. You can hand out prizes to the winners and even prizes for participating.
  • Buy a bubble makers, the children will surely love blowing and chasing the bubbles while getting some of their energy out at the same time.
  • Buy a few packages of glow sticks put them in bottled water twist the cap tightly, after dark have the children go outside and enjoy the colorful glow.
  • Put glowsticks in the pool at night while having a party or other festivity, how fun is that? they can be used for lots of festivities at night, they’re not just for the children so have fun and use your imagination.
